Quarry tiles
Tough, unglazed clay tiles in earthy reds and browns, used in kitchens, verandahs and commercial areas.
Quarry tiles are unglazed tiles made from extruded clay and fired at high temperatures. Their earthy red, brown and buff tones suit kitchens, verandahs, laundries and commercial floors where durability matters.
While harder than terracotta, quarry tiles are still porous and can absorb grease, food and dirt, and efflorescence can appear on new or exterior installations. Sealing helps reduce staining and makes cleaning easier, with options for a natural or gloss finish. Clean regularly with a suitable tile cleaner and treat grout as well, as it also stains easily.

Your finish
Textured quarry tiles
On quarry tiles, this is simply the normal unglazed surface of the material, with a slightly rough, earthy feel rather than a manufactured texture. It tends to be fairly porous and absorbent, so sealing helps reduce staining, with a natural look keeping the raw appearance or a high gloss option adding a coated sheen.
